The Department of cardiology at TMF Hospital offers following medical services.

Non Invasive Cardiology

  • Electrocardiography (ECG) is the process of recording the electrical activities of the heart over a period of time using electrodes placed on the skin.

  • An echocardiogram, often referred to as a cardiac echo or simply an echo, is a sonogram of the heart.

  • Treadmill Test (TMT) is a test used in Cardiology to measure the heart’s ability to respond to external stress in a controlled clinical environment.

  • A Holter monitor is a portable device for continuously monitoring various electrical activity of the cardiovascular system for at least 24 hours (often for two weeks at a time).

  • Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) measures blood pressure at regular intervals. It is believed to be able to reduce elevated BP during the examination process due to nervousness and anxiety caused by being in a clinical setting.

Cardiac Imaging

  • A transesophageal echocardiogram is an alternative way to perform an echocardiogram. A specialized probe containing an ultrasound transducer at its tip is passed into the patient's esophagus.

  • Computed tomography or heart CT scan (CT coronary angiogram) is a procedure used to assess the extent of occlusion in the coronary arteries, usually in order to diagnose coronary artery disease.

  • A stress echocardiogram, also known as a stress echo, uses ultrasound imaging of the heart to assess the wall motion in response to physical stress.

  • A CT Coronary Calcium score is used as a predictor of future adverse cardiac events. It also has a small role in evaluating possible angina prior to the CT/Catheter Coronary angiograms.
